Your Wish Is My Command

11th October 2014 by Neera Menon Leave a Comment

your wish is my commandImagine you found an old lamp.

It was the kind of lamp that you saw and read about in the Aladdin fairy tales.

You decided to clean it. Once you rubbed this lamp, out poured a white mist from the spout, and suddenly before you was a green genie.

The genie said:

“Hey YOU, your wish is my command.

What is your wish?”

Now imagine—what would you ask for?

  • Your dream home?
  • Your dream car?
  • The man/woman of your dreams?
  • To be financially free?
  • To be in vibrant health?
  • You would ask for (fill in the blanks)?

You might say to the genie, “I wish for my dream home by the sea!”

“Sorry! I don’t understand exactly what you want.

You need to describe it to me because I can’t read your mind”, says the genie.

Let’s just pause for a moment here so I can explain what the genie means.

This is the classic mistake most people make because although your conscious mind can work in generalisations, i.e., I want my dream home to be by the sea.

Your subconscious mind needs to be told exactly what it is you want.

(Think of the genie in this story as your subconscious mind.)

The 5 Senses

Here is how to ask the genie for what you want. In a nutshell—you need to describe your dream home to the genie through the five senses, which are:

  • What you see – visual
  • What you hear – auditory
  • What you feel – kinaesthetic
  • What you taste – gustatory
  • What you smell – olfactory

This is the language that your genie will understand.

For example,

1. Describe the house in visual terms.

The house must have 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3,400 sq. ft, price up to $1.4 million, separate dining room, family room, kitchen 17×17, living 21×21, dining 17×17, sea view, garage, fireplace in living room, swimming pool, Colonial style 2-story.

The key here is to describe your wish in terms of what you see.

2. Describe your dream home in auditory terms. I hear the ocean. I hear the sound of seagulls. You say to yourself, “Wow, I love my home”.

The key here is to describe your wish in terms of what you hear.

3. Describe your dream home in kinaesthetic terms, i.e., how does this house make you feel? I am proud to live in such a dream home.

I am happy to bring up my family in this house.

The key here is to describe your wish in terms of what you feel.

4. Describe the house in terms of gustatory (taste) and olfactory (smell) terms.

I smell bread baking in my home, making my mouth water.

I smell fragrant lilies in the living room.

The key here is to describe your wish in terms of what you taste and smell.
It is important to specify your dream home exactly, using the five senses, because this is how you impress on the genie exactly what it is you want.

This also imprints your wish onto your subconscious mind.

Then your wishes and dreams are likely to come true.
