Week 16: Change Your Life in Only Two Minutes Per Day

  • Waking up with a smile on your face because your heart is full of peace
  • Scoring the winning goal because you conquered your fear of failure
  • Having your child ask to spend time with you because you’re fun to be around
  • Being confident enough to ask your boss for a raise

But, you say, you’ve tried everything.

And you’re still back at square one.

What’s the key to lasting life change?

The key to lasting life change is to rewire your mind.

You see, your mind will always try to talk you out of change. The mind is in the business of preserving the status quo in case it needs the energy to flee from a predator.

Now this instinct worked very well in the past when our ancestors had to run from a lion or say now in case your need to run out of a burning building. But that instinct gets in the way when you are looking for change.

Planning is not only for business meetings and trips across the country.

A plan to be more happy looks like this:

  1. Set aside 2 minutes every day after you arise in the morning and sit upright on a chair.
  2. Close your eyes.
  3. Take 5 deep breaths.
  4. Imagine yourself with the biggest smile on your face.

The people I know who have consistently done this over a period of a few months noticed how much better they felt.

These people reported that their coworkers thought they had a new haircut or had even lost weight, and some even attracted new opportunities they never thought they would get.

All these people did was change their state of mind from negative to positive.
