Do you have a goal, but it’s just not happening for you, NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU ARE TRYING?
The key to unlocking what’s holding you back from hitting your goals lies in your unconscious mind.
Your unconscious mind holds all the things you’ve ever learnt during your lifetime.
A number of these thing are empowering, like your ability to add up numbers or tell the time.
But some can be equally disempowering.
For example, you may not feel like you have the confidence to create a new business or build a loving relationship or fulfill your true calling.
And the problem with these unconscious beliefs is that it’s not easy to figure out which of the beliefs you hold are holding you back from manifesting your dreams.
You end up with feelings of failure and frustration.
This is a PERFECTLY NORMAL reaction.
Change sometimes does not feel good.
But CHANGE YOU MUST if you really want to hit your goals.
It’s like lifting heavy weights or even struggling to learn any new skill.
You’re going to grunt, groan, swear, and sweat.
And there is a biological reason why this happens.
The ‘hurt’ that you feel is your brain laying down new neural pathways.
It’s metabolically expensive to grow new synapses. You use a lot of energy (fat) to create these new synapses, which means you have less fat to use for other bodily processes.
Your brain is going to try and persuade you to think about something other than your new goal.
Maybe you will think about cookies or chocolate when you’re trying to lose weight.
Your brain tries to distract you.
This is why it’s EASIER TO STAY WHERE YOU ARE instead of changing.
Exercising your brain is like exercising your body.
It’s painful and it’s tiring, yet those things are a sign that you’re making progress.
Just like muscles build through small tears, rewiring your brain and learning the new skills needed to succeed in your goals works the same way.
If it doesn’t hurt a little bit, it’s not going to work.
When your brain goes, ‘Ouch, this hurts. I really don’t want to do this’, KEEP GOING.
Get past this painful feeling of failure.
Because there will be a payoff at the end.
What happened to me is that for years I just didn’t believe I was good enough to have my own business, or for that matter to do anything else.
Here’s the formula that finally helped me overcome my limiting beliefs:
- I IMAGINED the life I wanted to live.
- I reminded myself of all my past SUCCESSES.
- I RELAXED AND STAYED HAPPY—a decision that has to be made on a ‘moment-by-moment’ basis. You have to be vigilant with your thoughts. If you don’t take conscious control of your thinking, your unconscious mind will take over.
And one day as I stepped into the shower, I realised what thought was holding me back from doing all the things I wanted to do and be.
I saw for the first time how one incident had had an enormous impact on everything that I tried to succeed at. The ‘key’ that kept me from succeeding in my goals was one belief: I did not TRUST MYSELF. This understanding flipped my thinking and literally opened the floodgates to success.
So, to reiterate, hitting your goals is no different than working hard in a gym.
You have to work at it.
There is light at the end of the tunnel, and success is just around the corner.
I’ve seen it!
