I was inspired to write this piece when I read about the unveiling of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament Square in London last week. This was an historic event—while there are several prime ministers and presidents immortalized by statues in Parliament Square, Gandhi is the only person who never held public office.
Mahatma Gandhi’s goal was to free India from colonial rule, which was demoralizing to the Indians. He believed in the equality and freedom for all without one drop of blood being shed.
Martin Luther King had a big vision: ‘I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood’.
Henry Ford, Alexander Graham Bell, Joan of Arc, Christopher Columbus, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Margaret Thatcher, Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, and Roger Bannister all had one thing in common.
A BIG VISION or DREAM or GOAL.
The second thing these successful people have in common is that they believed 100% in the attainment of the goal even though current thinking or circumstances suggested otherwise. They put the word impossible aside. They did not get distracted by what other people thought or even by the fact that the ‘thing’ they wanted had never been done before.
The third thing that all of these people have in common is that they had an ‘inclusive’ goal, that is, their goal was one that would benefit mankind.
These three ingredients make any goal, dream, or vision UNSTOPPABLE.
We all have a calling, and once it is clearly etched in your mind, it will turbocharge your life.
You will experience a level of energy that will literally propel you out of bed in the morning, and you will become unbelievably resourceful when it comes to problem solving because all you will see in front of you is the desire to realize your vision.
Would you like to have a vision that propels you out of bed every day?
Let’s talk about how you can get started
